BOSS Season finale at Silverstone

Last weekend saw the final round of the Blue Oval saloon Series (BOSS) at Silverstone. Once again Reynolds Motorsport attended with John Edwards-Parton and the last of the summer wine race team in their SES powered Sigma 1600.

Qualifying on Saturday morning at 10.30 was very wet but this worked in our favour with John working his way to a very comfortable 1st in class. And a good grid position for race one.

Race 1 was just after lunch and the sun had come out so the tyres were changed minuets before the race. Unfortunately John spun out approximately half way round on lap 1 leaving him last overall with a lot of work to do...

Blue oval saloon series (snetterton)

Today saw the 5th round of the Classic Touring cars Blue Oval Saloon Series championship at Snetterton and we were there once again supporting John Edwards-Parton in his 1600cc fiesta.

With a successful practice and qualifying session we returned to the paddocks to discover a split CV boot and partially siezed joint. A new shaft was fitted in a hurry before race 1.

Race 1 went well finishing 1st in class with only one minor race scar to the NSR quarter panel. When returning to the paddocks John informed us of a clicking noise when cornering. After investigation we found the inner cv joint of the new shaft had failed. With no more shafts available the old one was removed and we managed to build a new one out of 3 old broken ones to ensure the car was ready for race 2...

This weekend has seen the Mewla rally take place over the Epynt ranges in Wales. Reynolds Motorsport attended to support David Earthy with Den Golding in their Citreon C2 R2 1600 and Ian Barnard with Andy Ball in their Vauxhall Nova 1400.

After the long drive down on Friday afternoon / evening we all met up on Saturday morning so they could begin the Recce why we the cars had their final preparation at the accommodation. Scruitineeting went well with no issues.

Sunday morning we set off at 5am to secure a good spot in the service park whilst the drivers etc stayed in bed a bit longer.

All day David was having issues with flat shift and an intermittent misfire. Serval components were changed to try and over come the issue. We managed to improve it but not cure the fault.

Ian ran ok all d...

North Weald Test and Tune day

Yesterday (16/06/13) we were at North Weald air field in Essex to support Billy Gane with his freshly built Vauxhall Victor Drag car. Billy is used to racing at venues such as Santa pod and Avon park in the Pro ET championship.

With the engine being fitted on Saturday and run for the first time billy and team arrived at north Weald early on Sunday morning.

Billy managed an 11.08 seconds on his first 1/4 mile struggling to find grip. After a full check of the car he was ready for run 2. Unfortunately the engine cut out at the 1/8 mile mark and coasting to the finish still managed a time of 11.0 seconds. With all the team working to find the fault and returning to the workshop to collect parts unfortunately we were unable to fix the car and had to retire from the event.
